DEMOCRACY DAY: MAY 29TH, 2017.

Democracy Day is a public holiday in Nigeria, annually observed every May 29th in commemoration of the restoration of democracy to our Federal Republic in the year 1999. It is a memorable day that is predestined for the betterment of our nation.
There is no doubt that eighteen years of uninterrupted elected civilian rule is a commendable feat for the country, which has engendered freedom of choice of political leaders, better system of accountability, responsibility of actions, freedom of expression, amongst others.
Our nation Nigeria is indeed a great nation filled with highly intellectual, good spirited, resilient, hospitable, hard working and wonderful people from different ethnic groups who are endowed with diverse talents and potentials.
Today, we join other states in this nation to celebrate the second year of this democratic dispensation, specifically the administration of my dear husband, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike and his laudable achievements so far, ranging from construction of good road networks, numerous building projects, timely payments of workers salary, to many others too many to mention.
Let us therefore continue to work towards the progressive transformation and the growth and prosperity of our dear Rivers State and the entire nation at large, while de-emphasizing those instigations and actions that tend to promote mutual mistrust, hatred, disloyalty and discrimination among us.

Interesting facts about Africa.

One interesting fact about Africa that is truly amazing is that long before humans were around (the early Mesozoic Era), Africa was joined to the other continents in a massive continent called Pangaea. Over millions of years this huge continent broke apart shaping the world landscape as we know it today in what has been referred to the continental drift. This was at first a speculation and was first put proposed by Abraham Ortelius in 1596. Later on, the concept was independently (and more fully) developed in 1912 by Alfred Wegener and the theory of continental drift was superseded by the theory of plate tectonics, which builds upon the previous continental drift and better explains the former concept.Africa is the most populous and the only black continent.
