Democracy Day is a public holiday in Nigeria, annually observed every May 29th in commemoration of the restoration of democracy to our Federal Republic in the year 1999. It is a memorable day that is predestined for the betterment of our nation. There is no doubt that eighteen years of uninterrupted elected civilian rule is a commendable feat for the country, which has engendered freedom of choice of political leaders, better system of accountability, responsibility of actions, freedom of expression, amongst others. Our nation Nigeria is indeed a great nation filled with highly intellectual, good spirited, resilient, hospitable, hard working and wonderful people from different ethnic groups who are endowed with diverse talents and potentials.
